Refinishing a Cedar Shingled Home

Refinishing Natural Wood Shingle Siding

  • This cedar siding had been re-oiled so many times, it had lost its bright, clean, original look
  • We removed all the old oils using a biodegradeable stripper followed by waterblasting
  • To protect the environment all waterblast water was kept out of the gutter/stormdrain and kept on the property
  • The next step was to apply wood brightener, an oxalic acid based wood bleach to bring back the original bright cedar look
  • We then applied TWP transluscent “California Redwood” lightly tinted penetrating oil to refusal
  • The owner was tickled pink over the results the house looked brand new again
