When you are looking to paint your home’s interior, you sometimes can want only to paint one wall of the space being painted — particularly when you want that one wall to stand out and look a bit different from the other walls.
When you paint or otherwise decorate only one wall in a space, and it looks remarkably different from the other walls, this is referred to as an accent wall.
The first thing that we have accepted about a good accent wall is that it is different from the other walls in the room — and this can be with something as simple as choosing a different color for it.
Not just any color will do for your accent wall. However — if your wall will be of a different color, it should be a color that contrasts with the other walls.
There are many ways to choose an accent wall color but the best, after going off of what colors you personally find to be good, are to use color calculators to see what would be good with what you already have.
When you’re looking to make an accent wall, you should consider what your walls look like as they are before choosing which of them will be the accent wall.
If you have one wall that, for example, is opposite a window, you might want to use that as the accent wall.
There are other structural considerations that you may want to take in mind when choosing your accent wall.
Another impressive way you can make a nice accent wall is to use not just one but multiple colors.
For example, you can make up some good patterns with the colors or even do some simple stripes that will really have the colors stand out.
If you don’t want to change your proposed accent wall color but still want to make it stand out from the rest of the room, you can make use of some of the photographs you probably have sitting on a portable hard drive somewhere.
More specifically, you can get some good prints of these photographs and frame them and put them on the wall.
The question then becomes in what order you will put the photos — are you going to put them in chronological order, alphabetical, or another sort of order?
Adding color to your wall does not necessarily mean you have to paint the wall — there are other ways that you will be able to do it as well.
Take, for example, fabric — you can take some large bits of fabric and make an absolutely gorgeous accent wall using it.
It can even be only a few large strips of fabric that stretch from one side of the wall to the other;
When we think about adding wallpaper to a room, we often think about all of the walls having the same wallpaper on them.
However, this does not have to be the case — you can single out one wall that will be your accent wall and use wallpaper on that wall.
Lastly, consider the use of brick for making up a nice accent wall.
There are many ways that you can use brick — and so many kinds of brick that you can use, especially seeing as you are going to be using it for decoration and will not need to fit in the structural sense, necessarily.
