Merger Of PaintGreen & Peek Brothers
We LOVE To Paint And Make Things Beautiful Again!
Brothers John And Ned Peek Founded Peek Brothers Back In 1981
Ned was a student at UCSD and John was a recent graduate of UC Berkeley. It was time for a summer job for Ned and I (John) had a low paying internship and I needed extra cash! I had painted during my Berkeley years and previous summers for family and friends….we thought, “Let’s do it as a team this summer!” Well after that summer, we had a decision to make. Since we both enjoyed working with our hands and I had just gotten a business degree… we decided to make Peek Brothers a full time endeavor!
Raised in coastal San Diego with a big family of seven siblings and two wonderful parents (Tom and Ellen), it was easy to find work. Soon we were painting for friends of friends as our reputation grew. Our specialty was and is interior and exterior home repainting, with decks and cabinet refinishing a part of our repertoire.
Soon we had the opportunity to work on some beautiful buildings where our house painting clients served on boards. St. James by the Sea Episcopal Church and La Jolla Presbyterian Church were two early projects that we were very excited (and scared) to tackle!
Folks saw that we did a good job and enjoyed our work and we grew. After 25 years, I bought brother Ned’s portion of the business. Ned wanted to pursue a solo career with no employees.
Folks often ask….”Is everything OK between you two?” Absolutely things are fine. As a matter of fact, when we were at our CPA’s office hammering out our buy out agreement, our CPA, Rick Evans started laughing….we asked why and he responded, “This is the first negotiation between partners where each was fighting for a better deal….for the other guy!
Well fast forward another 12 years for a cumulative 37 years….and Peek Brothers is still going strong. I truly enjoy the lifelong learning, growing and the opportunity to make my town more beautiful.
Our clients are the nicest folks and I really enjoy doing work and maintaining relationships for the long term.
A reputable business is built one job at a time. As a family owned and operated business, we at Peek Brothers Painting are keenly aware that a job done well is an asset to our reputation. Our slogan “We Do Things Right” is the objective we strive for on every job because we know our future work depends upon pleasing you!
