When you are looking to clean the exterior of your home, there are many things you can do in terms of techniques and methods.
Power washing is one such technique — and the important thing to bear in mind is that if you aren’t careful with your power washer, you can end up causing more damage than good.
As will be explained later, being too close to the thing you are cleaning can be a bad thing — as the force of the power washer might actually damage the thing you’re trying to clean.
With that being true, if you start off further than you need to be and then moving your way closer, you can be sure that you won’t do such a thing.
Better to start off at such a distance that you barely clean and work your way closer to not cause damage
There are a number of tips that come with your power washer, and you are going to want to make sure that you use the right one for cleaning.
The red one, for example, causes a powerful and focused stream of water to come forth — and this is the most powerful of all of the tips.
There are many cleaning situations that would not call for such focused shooting — and which would actually be bad if you were to use it.
There is something to be said for using just plain water with your power washer — after all, one of the selling points of the power washer is that it takes plain water and pushes it forth so hard that it is able to dislodge dirt from surfaces.
On the other hand, there are some power washers that come with soap tanks that allow you to get a little soap on the surface that you are cleaning — perhaps good for the greasier surfaces that need to be cleaned.
There are many settings that you can use for your power washer, and you are going to want to be careful not to go too high with your setting.
Though of course we can see a dozen videos on how to power wash, it only takes setting the power washer to the wrong setting just once to possibly cause a lot of destruction to our property.
Sometimes you might come across an issue with the power washer — perhaps you will hear an odd noise being made, like when the water tank runs out due to the supply getting a little twisted.
Better to turn the machine off before you address the problem – this way you avoid making the problem worse.
One reason you might consider using a gas powered power washer is that you don’t want to be constrained by a cord.
You also might like the fact that gas powered washers put out considerably more power than their plug-in electric counterparts.
Of course, plenty of people ultimately are able to clean their exteriors using the electric plug-in washer.
Lastly, consider if you will ultimately need an attachment to help with your exterior washing.
There are numerous types of attachments that you can get for your power washer, and they all do a number of things including expandable wands that allow you to reach higher places and even just surface cleaner attachments to make surface cleaning that much better.
