In the painting of the interior of a house, there are a lot of rooms that you are going to want to consider — the different bedrooms of course as well as your typical living room and dining room.
Then you’ll have the rooms that you will know you can expect in just about every standard house — a kitchen and at least one bathroom — but what about a playroom?
A playroom is a special room for children – they can spend time learning and having fun, sometimes at the same time — and if the room is well painted they can certainly appreciate having a room with good aesthetics going on as well.
One thing that you’re going to want to remember when you’re painting the playroom is that it’s important to use a non-VOC paint during the painting process.
Though for most rooms you can alternate between using low-VOC and using even paint that contains a typical amount of VOCs, when you’re painting the playroom it’s a good idea to take every precaution possible and only use non-VOC paint.
This is chiefly because of the age of the people that are going to be spending the most time there and how very long it takes for these volatile organic compounds to cease coming forth from the painted walls.
Thus it is better to make use of non-VOC paint so that you aren’t going to have any issues with these compounds and the health issues that they can cause.
On to a more pleasant topic – the fun colors that you are going to be able to use when painting the playroom.
Since you know the age range of the people who make use of the room, you will know that you can make use of some fun colors and thus make the use of the room that much more enjoyable.
Though of course, you are more likely to know what color or colors the children are going to like, it wouldn’t hurt to ask the future users of the room what they might prefer.
A well-painted surface is one that starts by having the surface is as clean as possible.
This will be because having dirt on the surface of the walls will make them less smooth and certainly not as pleasant to paint — so make the time to clean the walls before you paint them.
Speaking of smooth surfaces, you are going to want to do everything in your power to get the surface that is going to be painted to be smooth first.
Those things will include sanding before you paint but also making use of a coat of primer prior to applying the first (and perhaps second) coat of paint.
By doing this you will more easily get the paint onto the surface being painted but also be ensured that you have paint that is going to stay on the surface longer — the primer that you use is more adhesive and better for getting paint to stay on it.
Lastly, you should know that when you’re painting the playroom it’s perfectly okay to make patterns on the wall and not just to do plain colors that are entirely solid.
Of course, it’s going to be understood that you will find that painting patterns on the playroom wall will be that much more time consuming and in some ways more difficult than painting just the plain colors, but when you see how nice the walls will look you will realize that it is well worth it.
